A Mrs. Doubtfire Musical Is Coming To The West End Next Summer

Helloooooo darlings! The West End is set to become a whole lot more frenzied with the arrival of one of cinema’s most beloved and chaotic nannies. That’s right, Mrs. Doubtfire is getting the stage musical treatment, and following a Manchester premiere earlier in the year it will hit London in the summer of 2023. And you can buy your tickets now!

Mrs. Doubtfire will grace the floorboards of the recently renovated Shaftesbury Theatre from May, 2023 onwards. The titular role, made famous by the ever-missed Robin Williams, will find Gabriel Vick (Avenue Q) donning the nanny garb and bouncing between two characters. Tony Award-winning director Jerry Zaks is helming the affair, so we’re sure he’ll keep the spirit of the iconic 90’s film, whilst bringing it into the modern day.

Been a while since you’ve seen the movie? Here’s a quick recap, courtesy of the team behind the musical:

“Out-of-work actor Daniel will do anything for his kids. After losing custody in a messy divorce, he creates the alter ego of Scottish nanny Euphegenia Doubtfire in a desperate attempt to stay in their lives. As his new character takes on a life of its own, Mrs. Doubtfire teaches Daniel more than he bargained for about how to be a father.”

It’s sure to be a side-splitting affair, full of pointed barbs, hilarious mishaps, and wholesome familial love. It is, after all, ultimately a story about a father who loves his children. Now, if you’ll excuse us, we’re off to re-watch the film yet again.

Performances start on May 12, 2023, running Monday – Saturday each week, with matinee performances on Thursdays and Saturdays. Tickets are on sale now, so be sure to secure your seats well in advance!
