Everyone’s favourite bao spot is opening a new branch in King’s Cross.
November is a little while away, but we already have something very exciting to look forward to. BAO is opening its fourth venue and this one will come with a few new changes. Cafe BAO will be an all-day dining spot that serves breakfast, which is a first for the company. And the news doesn’t stop there: Cafe BAO will also have its very own bakery offering sweet treats and coffee to have inside or to take away.
For those of you that haven’t experienced BAO’s buns before, they are inspired by the delicious Taiwanese street food snack and their chefs describe them as “the fluffy white pillows that envelope an assortment of fillings”. They are so fluffy and light that you’ll be able to scoff quite a few down. How exciting!
This new venue will feature an all-day dining room and a mouthwatering menu to match. It’s no surprise that bao buns are their specialty and they have an array of fillings, including hamburger, lobster and chicken. You’ll also find their take on western style dishes like their ‘Chicken XO Kiev’ and ‘Ham Hock Congee Pie’ on the menu.
If you fancy something sweet, the BAO bakery will sort you right out. Their baked goods are just as indulgent as their mains and there will be plenty of options to choose from. The BAOfiteroles served with Horlicks ice cream and chocolate sauce are a must-try, take it from me. You also can’t go wrong with their molten chocolate and salted egg muffin BAO. Those with a sweet tooth will be in for a real treat.
While they don’t offer goody bags, you can order their bespoke bao buns to be gift wrapped for a friend (or for you to eat later, we don’t judge). They haven’t released an official opening date just yet, but we know it’ll be some time in November. Head to their website for more info.
