Thrill-Seekers Wanted: Charity Abseil to Raise Funds for Cancer Research UK
Local Heroes to Take the Plunge for a Worthy Cause
Heights, harnesses, and heart — all will come together on Saturday 27 September as daring volunteers take on an adrenaline-fueled charity abseil in support of Cancer Research UK (CRUK).
The event will see brave fundraisers descend the Francis Crick Institute in London in a thrilling show of courage and community spirit. Each participant is helping to raise vital funds for life-saving cancer research, with every penny going towards CRUK’s mission to beat cancer sooner.
“This is more than just a challenge — it’s a symbol of hope,” said Marilyn Goater, from Cancer Research UK. “Every step down the rope represents progress in the fight against cancer. We’re so grateful to all our fundraisers and supporters.”
Participants, many with personal connections to cancer, have been gathering donations through sponsorships from friends, family, and local businesses. Some are taking part in memory of loved ones lost, while others celebrate survival or support someone currently undergoing treatment.
CRUK continues to lead the charge in funding ground-breaking research into over 200 types of cancer, and events like this make their work possible.
Spectators are welcome on the day to cheer on the climbers, enjoy refreshments, and learn more about the impact of cancer research.
