An Amnesty Feminist Network event hosted at the Amnesty International UK Human Rights Action Centre, London. Join us on Saturday 8th March for International Women’s Day, to mark the occasion with a series of feminist activism focused sessions.

The Landscape of Feminist Activism Today Presented by Amnesty International and the Amnesty Feminist Network

11:15 AM – 12:45 PM: Session 1- ‘Activating Grassroots Change’ workshop run by Faustine Petron and Ithar Ghalifa from ‘Make It Mandatory’ an award-winning, youth led campaign lobbying the government to extend and mandate Relationships and Sex Education ( RSE) at KS5 to help prevent VAWG.

1:30 PM – 2:30 PM: Session 2- Workshop led by ‘#NotYourPorn’, a UK-based, sex positive movement fighting to protect non consenting adults, sex workers and under 18s from image-based sexual abuse.2:30 PM – 2:45 PM: Refreshment Break
2:45 PM – 3:45 PM: Session 3- Activist Wellbeing workshop led by ‘The Joyful Activist’ Katy Massey
4:00 PM – 4:30 PM: Keynote Speech by Labour MP for Coventry South Zarah SultanaZarah Sultana is the Member of Parliament for Coventry South, first elected in 2019 and re-elected in 2024. A passionate advocate for social justice, workers’ rights and climate action, she is committed to building a more equitable and inclusive society. Zarah has introduced key bills, including universal free school meals for primary school children and a ban on arms sales to countries violating international humanitarian law.In recognition of her work with disadvantaged communities, she was named MP of the Year in 2022 by the Patchwork Foundation. In 2023, she was nominated for Backbencher of the Year and received a Coventry Legends Award from Coventry United Women’s Football Club, recognising her leadership as a positive female role model.

Accessibility
All sessions will have BSL interpretation at this event. The venue is fully wheelchair accessible and we have on site parking for those that need it. There will be plenty of room to find a quiet rest space throughout the day, both indoor and outside. Our food will be clearly labeled, gluten free, vegan and nut free options will be available. Please make sure to share any other access needs when you get your ticket.
