Be My Guest

14 April @ 7:30 pm - 8:30 pm

Be My guest is both a comedy and a ceremony that examines, with the audience, the doubts and the struggle of the artistic process of making a show.

Explore the poetic choices, the autobiographical aspects, the female condition of the artist, the poverty of the actor, love, meta-theatre and the role of the artist in our society with Monia Baldini!

A shared journey through positive madness: Welcome, Be My Guest!

“Making a show on my own made me realize that I’m never really alone in this process. If I listen carefully my artistic body is full of voices, so I’ve decided to play them all.”

Dramatis personae:

The Hostess Ladies and Gentlemen and everyone in between…
The Artist Are you following this? Is this making sense to you?
Venus This is not the right question, the question is are you loving it?
Shelion Do you feel more free?
Tragic actress Is it tragic enough?
Me Do you want to hear my story?

Those are the guests of the author, the pushes of the creation that materialize themselves in six different roles or masks; each with their own physicality, voice, gestures, motivations and contents.
Each role is there to make their own show.  Each one of them fights for the attention of the audience.  Each one of them has their own chorus.

This fight will lead to a climax, and after its resolution the roles will finally collaborate in creating a show in a way that accords perfectly their needs.

“The audience is always involved since nothing is private. All shared between me and them without the fourth wall to keep us apart. My audience plays, takes part in the process, creates and changes. – their presence a fundamental component of the show. They’re progressively more and more involved in this absurd, meta theatrical adventure that ends in a cathartic and shared collective ritual.”
