Biscuit Barrel: Not Another 69-Sketch Show

20 July @ 7:00 pm - 8:00 pm

£8.00

Edinburgh Fringe Preview

“Most reliable sketch group in the game” **** (EdFringeReview)

69 sketches in an hour! Featuring absurd characters, slapstick and wordplay at break-neck speed.

“An excellent comedy show” **** (BroadwayBaby)

Featuring DazzReviews, as seen on YouTube (500,000 subscribers; 100 million views). Following 1,700 tickets sold at Edinburgh Fringe 2023, the Bristol-based group are prepping for their fifth festival run!

Remixing the traditional sketch revue into an exciting hyper-speed experience, this is the speed of TikTok put on a stage.

“The hot, young comedy act you promised yourself” **** (GetYourCoatsOn)

The Barrel’s trademark ‘69 sketches an hour’ format runs into chaos, when the long-neglected biscuits of their namesake start invading the show. Having been denounced by his peers as ‘the most boring biscuit’, Rich-T defers from the variety pack and breaks into the production, adamant to find a way of proving them wrong.

Lead by Captain J. Dodger, the pack pursue the renegade biscuit, disrupting several sketches in the process. Whether its interrogating fortune cookies, disgruntled self-checkout machines, or a slapstick routine told through the medium of beatbox, there’s many sketches waiting inside this Barrel.

“The hit-rate of their sketches is high” (List)

‘The audience HOWLED with laughter’ ***** (Theatre & Art Reviews)

“Top of the Barrel” (Bristol Post)

“The Biscuit Barrel entertained and delighted a packed-out Rialto.’ (The Brighton Seagull)

14+ Contains mature content and infrequent strong language.

About Company:

Biscuit Barrel are a sketch-comedy group who produce ‘The 69-Sketch Show’ and perform as a quickfire act on the UK comedy and cabaret circuits.

Founded in late 2016, their shows fully utilise TikTok’s destruction of the human attention-span to create an exhilaratingly hyper-paced comedy experience.

In 2023, their fourth 26-date run of Edinburgh Fringe sold over 1,700 tickets at Gilded Balloon (full 2023 sales topping 2,300 tickets). Following this preview event, they’ll be embarking on their fifth full run of the festival. Their first was back in 2018.

As seen at Edinburgh Fringe, Brighton Fringe, Leicester Comedy Festival, Winchester Comedy Festival, Durham Fringe, Guildford Fringe, Greater Manchester Fringe, Hat Fair Outdoor Festival, and London Comedy Film Festival.

As heard on BBC Radio Bristol and BBC Radio Scotland.

Director: Holly Meechan

Producer & Head-Writer: James Horscroft (Nominated – David Nobbs Memorial Trust’s ‘Comedy-Writing Award’)

Written & Performed by: Capriella Monique (Stand-Up for Cider Finalist), Daryl Reader (DazzReviews; 500,000 YT subscribers), Harry Brown (Mountview), James Horscroft and Lily Maryon (Sketch Off 2024 semi-finalist)
