Music to Welcome Spring: Australia House Ensemble

String Quartet No. 11 in F minor, Op. 122 – Shostakovich
Composed during a time of personal and political turmoil, this quartet is deeply expressive, featuring intense contrasts and hauntingly beautiful themes.

String Quartet No. 6 in F minor, Op. 80 – Mendelssohn
Written as an emotional tribute to Mendelssohn’s late sister, this powerful and passionate work is filled with drama, tenderness, and breathtaking virtuosity.

Waltzing Matilda – Arr. Koncz
A beloved Australian classic, arranged for string quartet, bringing a touch of nostalgia and folk charm to the evening’s program.
