UNIVERSITY OF EAST LONDON ACTING AND FASHION STUDENTS BRING FESTIVE CHEER TO THE COMMUNITY WITH THEIR PRODUCTION OF ‘SCROOGE!’ 

A festive, family-friendly theatrical experience for Newham’s young people showcasing the emerging talents of UEL’s actors and fashion designers. 

“I will honour Christmas in my heart and try to keep it all the year. I will live in the Past, the Present, and the Future”.  How does Scrooge honour a future of AI, melting ice caps, a cost-of-living crisis and trauma from his past?  

Tis the season to be joyful and remember the magic of Christmas.   

It’s snowing. The Cratchits are huddled around a fire. The Spirits are planning a haunting visit. Austerity in Victorian Britain isn’t helping. It’s Christmas Eve and memories are afloat in the reflections of the lamplight. When you’re counting your money, you hardly notice the match girl in the gutter. This much-loved Christmas Story offers a perfect way to follow our iconic characters into the heart of the festive spirit. A touching, funny, energetic retelling of Dicken’s ghostly tale. Scrooge is created by the UEL BA(Hons) Acting for Stage and Screen company and features Fashion Design by UEL BA (Hons) Fashion Design students. Directed by Juliet Knight. A new play celebrating the possibility of change, reminding us that richness isn’t always about money and warmth can be found in the simplest of snowy moments.
