The Most Scenic View In London Has Been Revealed, And Honestly We’re Not Surprised

Of all the panoramic views of London, Primrose Hill is the city’s favourite.

Yes, there’s stiff competition for this spot, but ultimately only one can prevail. And so, with a mission to discover the best scenic view in the UK (more on that later), home and garden supplier Haddonstone perused TripAdvisor to hunt down our favourite views around the country. Here in London, there was a clear winner, as over 340 glowing reviews dubbed Primrose Hill as the most scenic view in the capital.

It won’t come as a shock to anyone who’s visited, but Primrose Hill, with its zigzagging paths and the London cityscape unfolding before you, nicked the coveted title of London’s best scenic view. From up here, you can see everything from the London Eye across to Canary Wharf; and as our recent guide to the best places to kiss in London suggests, the sunsets are hella romantic. It’s been an open public space since 1842, holds the status of a Grade-II listed park, and features two of London’s thirteen protected views, towards St Paul’s Cathedral and the Palace of Westminster.

Primrose Hill

The final word on Primrose Hill can be left to the poet William Blake, words which are inscribed on the viewing platform: “I have conversed with the spiritual sun. I saw him on Primrose Hill.” So, a worthy winner, and one which saw off stiff competition from another London favourite – Greenwich Park, where the sweeping views encompass the Old Royal Naval College, Canary Wharf, and the Shard – to claim the title.

Still, even Primrose Hill couldn’t claim the top spot when it comes to the most scenic park views in the UK. It actually came eighth, with the admittedly incredible Arthur’s Seat in Edinburgh taking the top spot. Views of the Clifton Suspension Bridge in Bristol, Lulworth Cove in Dorset, and Beachy Head in Eastbourne pushed our London champion further down the list, but it’s safe to say we’d swap them all for a summer’s evening on Primrose Hill.

In other news, London has been voted the second-best travel destination in the world for 2021.
