This Gorgeous West London Spot Has Just Been Named One Of The Most Beautiful Restaurants In The World – And It Only Reopened Its Doors Last Year

If you’re looking for a restaurant that’ll serve you up a feast for both your eyes and your tastebuds, allow us to point you in the directions of a legendary London locale that’s just been named one of the most beautiful restaurants in the whole world. The newest shiny award for London to precariously shove into its over-flowing trophy cabinet comes courtesy of the architectural-aficionados over at Prix Versailles.

Now, just in case you didn’t already know (I mean, I certainly didn’t until now); each and every year, Prix Versailles compile a series of lists, dishing out accolades to the best and the most beautiful in the world of architecture and interior design. From airports and hotels to museums and university campuses; Prix Versailles uncover the most impressive of all. But what we’re focusing on today is their recently-revealed list of the world’s most beautiful restaurants. And that, my friends, is purely because it’s the only list on which our lovely London’s name appeared. The coveted catalogue of the globe’s most gorgeous eateries features 16 stunning spots. And coming in at a rather balmy number nine is a beloved bistro in Notting Hill.

Julie’s, Notting Hill

Julie’s is a picture-perfect French bistro in West London, that already boasted a pretty impressive reputation even before being added to Prix Versailles’ list. The gorgeous doors of this Notting Hill hotspot were first flung open by renowned interior designer, Julie Hodgess, back in 1969. It quickly became a popular spot amongst actors, artists, fashion icons, and even royalty; serving up both style and substance in spades.

Julie’s shut up shop at the end of 2022, but reopened its doors under new ownership in the spring of 2024, following a rather mighty makeover. Julie’s seamlessly blends old-world luxury and contemporary aesthetics, and it offers up a truly unique atmosphere. The restaurant sprawls across two floors, and has an al-fresco terrace and a decadently dramatic chandelier that spans pretty much the entire restaurant ceiling. And look, it’s truly no wonder that it’s earnt itself a coveted place in this beauty contest, in our humble opinion.

📍 You’ll find Julie’s at 135 Portland Road, W11 4LW.
